Cheshire Homes is a worldwide organisation, founded by Group Captain Lord Leonard Cheshire, to support and provide relief to physically challenged girls and women. The movement has grown from a single Home after WW II to Homes in 54 countries. (www.leonardcheshire.org)
All Cheshire Homes are bound by strict adherence to an international code of integrity, transparency, and accountability. Each Home is a separate entity and is responsible for charting its activities and raising its own funds.
Cheshire Homes India, Bangalore
Cheshire Homes India, Bangalore, is a registered Society, managed by a management committee in accordance with the Rules, Regulations, and Bye–laws of the Society. All committee members are honorary volunteers and not eligible for any form of financial benefit. Cheshire Homes India, Bangalore, has all the required approvals that include:
- The Society registration certificate
- The FCRA certificate
- Income Tax 12-A certificate, 80 G Form, PAN card
- CSR Registration
- Directorate for the Empowerment of Differently Abled and Senior Citizens
- Accreditation by Credibility Alliance (sets the baseline for accountability, transparency, and good governance for NGOs)

Both these locations are built around an eco-friendly environment with open spaces, greenery, and water harvesting. The infrastructure is disabled-friendly and also powered by solar lighting and heating.
Our Outreach Program
The mission of this program is to reach out and include disabled and senior citizens living in and around our locations so that they can benefit from:
- Becoming self-aware and self-reliant
- Have access to therapy and other government programs
- Create linkages with NGOs working for disabled

Funds, Donations, and Support
Cheshire Homes India, Bangalore raises funds from individuals, corporates, organizations and the Govt. of Karnataka. The Home has built linkages with corporates who provide steady annual financial support.
Companies and individuals make financial donations as well as contributions in kind.
Volunteer programs from Corporates and individuals have played a critical role in their sensitization, which has led to tremendous awareness and consistent involvement with the residents.
