WHAT WE DO: WHITEFIELD HOME
This Home is a refuge for elderly and severely physically challenged women. They are cared for and they live in dignity during their sunset years.
There are also hospitals in Whitefield that provide medical care at discounted rates.
Residents at the Whitefield Home, May 2022
From 1985, we have provided a secure life for our residents and showered them with love and compassion.
We provide free residential facilities in comfortable dormitories in a serene and tranquil environment. The residents enjoy a good quality of life, nutritious and healthy food. The supervision of the Home is in the hands of the able sisters of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent De Paul of the Southern Province, Bangalore. The sisters display a commendable spirit of energy, commitment, and perseverance. Be it coaxing an elderly to eat, or lending their shoulders to someone who want to vent their feelings or taking a firm stand when they need to be disciplined – the sisters play their role with devotion.
Medicines are administered as per the advice of doctors. A specialist visit is scheduled on request. For any emergency, the residents are rushed to a nearby hospital. A physiotherapist attends to those who need therapy sessions. There is a yoga session for the residents, in which some actively take part while the others are content with a few breathing exercises.
A typical day begins at 6 a.m. with prayers and a steaming cup of tea or coffee. We provide a nutritious breakfast, lunch and dinner, taking into consideration the health complications of each resident. Well-wishers and corporate employees offer to sponsor the meals for the residents either for their birthdays, anniversaries, any special days or as a philanthropic mission.
A few of our residents exhibit specific talents and make food covers, glass covers and baby clothes. The orders keep trickling in from known sources and our dedicated well-wishers. The rest of the residents who can do some work spend time in making paper bags.

The crippling effects of loneliness are widely known and most common among older people. Therefore, we believe companionship is vital.
We enable younger volunteers to spend time with our residents. From helping the residents to make paper bags to listening to their stories of the past, the volunteers are creative, caring and compassionate. They bring in happiness and peace to our residents and ensure that elderly people are not forgotten.
