PRIYA MARY'S STORY

Priya Mary joined Cheshire Homes in 1990. She was affected by polio and had trouble walking. At Cheshire Homes, she underwent corrective surgery for her physical disability and walks almost normally. She received education while she was at Cheshire Homes and graduated with a first class in Commerce from Sir. M. Vishveshwaraya College. She started working with INFOSYS, moved on to EMPHASIS in the H R department, and is presently working with JP Morgan.

She was ignored and almost abandoned by her mother while she was at Cheshire Homes. When her mother realised that Priya had started working, she asked Priya to support her financially. Priya doesn’t stay with her mother but very graciously supports her whenever she can.

Cheshire Homes had an excellent Choir thanks to the training provided by committed volunteers. Priya was always the star of the choir with a voice of a nightingale, she was the lead singer. She like the other ex-residents visits the home often and teaches the young residents songs and joins the choir every year when the choir is invited to sing around Christmas time.
